Leap Day
People, you have earned a bonus day! Today is February 29, and it only comes around every four years. I'd love to explain to you the finer details of this little quirk in our calendar (hint: it involves the sun), but it has nothing to do with dating, food or anything compellingly interesting.
Leap Day is a good chance for you to really suck the marrow out of life. Amy Adams did this by going to Ireland to ask her boyfriend to marry her. (Or at least some horribly written character she was playing did.) I am not an Amy Adams fan, but I *am* a Matthew Goode fan (that accent! that height! that adorable smile!) and a fan of Ireland-the-country so I saw the movie. (I also saw P.S. I Love You for similar reasons. And I'd like to say for the record, you don't always fly to Ireland alone and meet a handsome stranger. I, for one, met a lot of old men and an American who looked startlingly like my ex-boyfriend. It's ok, Ireland, I still adore you.)
Anyhow, back to Amy Adams, she decides to suck (the marrow) on Leap Day by hopping a flight and proposing to her lame boyfriend. I'm not encouraging that. (Although,[SPOILER ALERT] she did end up with Matthew Goode, so you draw your own conclusions there.) I AM encouraging using the idea of this day to try something you would never have tried before. Say something to someone you haven't had the balls to say. Eat something of which you've always been slightly afraid. Speak with your heart, not your head All-Day-Long. Figure out what matters strongly to you and nurture that with all you've got today and don't worry about what anyone else will think. Let yourself fall the F in love (or lust or just some seriously good like).
In short, LEAP!, people. Go ahead, jump into something with wild abandon. Don't worry about the what-if this, what-if that and all those silly consequences we become hung up on. Just go!
Life flies by and if you can't seize an extra day when it comes your way, well...you're worse than Amy Adams. (Just saying. Sorry, Amy.)
Report back.
